The number of young Hongkongers aged 10 to 15 arrested on suspicion of drug offences in 2021 rose by more than 50 percent when compared with the previous year’s figure.
In 2021, Hong Kong authorities arrested a total of 678 people who were under the age of 21 for suspected drug-related crimes.
Of those, 116 were aged 15 and under, marking a a 52.6 percent increase from the 76 people in that age bracket in 2020. Between 2017 and 2019, the number of 15-and-under apprehended on drug allegations did not exceed 40.
